Daily AcreetionOS Update -- October 30, 2026

October 30, 2026

AcreetionOS CI now publishes ISOs automatically after a weekend of fixing release workflow validation and adding the -R flag to gh release create. The new pipeline in acreetionos-code.github.io syncs the newsletter, archive, and wiki guides on every push, so the latest builds and documentation stay in lockstep. You can grab the latest image at https://acreetionos.org/flash.html.

Development

Natalie Spiva pushed an intelligence sync commit (7963b36) that wires changelog, archive, and feed updates directly into the deployment pipeline. Darren Clift landed fixes in acreetionos-immutable, correcting release.yml block-scalar indentation that had broken workflow validation and passing -R to gh release create so release jobs no longer require a checkout step. The AcreetionOS-Xlibre repository saw two updating commits, keeping the Xlibre display stack current with upstream changes.

Community

Security updates landed across the ecosystem on Thursday, with advisories issued by AlmaLinux for packages including kernel, java-17-openjdk, java-25-openjdk, libX11, and expat. On the upstream side, the Linux Plumbers Conference blog published a report from the sched_ext microconference, covering the latest developments in the kernel's composable scheduler framework. For context on what ships in each release, the changelog at https://acreetionos.org/changelog.html is your friend.

Tip of the day

If you contribute regularly, set up the AcreetionOS GitLab mirror on https://gitlab.acreetionos.org and link it to your local config so Darren's CI tweaks and Natalie's sync commits pull through automatically. The docs at https://acreetionos.org/docs.html walk through fork-and-merge workflows, and the wiki at https://acreetionos.org/wiki.html has troubleshooting notes for common build failures.
