Daily AcreetionOS Update -- October 29, 2026
Subject: AcreetionOS-Xlibre receives fresh updates ahead of next ISO cycle
The Xlibre fork that powers AcreetionOS graphics just landed a batch of updates this week, signaling that the next ISO refresh will ship with a newer display stack than most Arch-based distros carry. Darren pushed the changes through the AcreetionOS-Xlibre repo after validating them against our Calamares installer and Cinnamon desktop integration, so the usual "does it actually boot" check is already done.
Development
The immutable variant also got CI love this week — the release workflow now passes the -R flag to gh release create so artifacts publish without an unnecessary checkout step, and a block-scalar indentation bug that broke workflow validation has been fixed. If you track the changelog at https://acreetionos.org/changelog.html you'll see the corresponding entries land within hours of each merge.
Community Upstream Linux news worth noting: the Linux Plumbers Conference published a write-up of the sched_ext microconference covering scheduler extensibility work that could trickle down to our kernel config, and Redox OS shared a project summary on their ring-buffer implementation — interesting reading if you follow Rust-based kernel experiments. Both are linked from the wiki at https://acreetionos.org/wiki.html under the "Upstream Watch" section.
Tip of the day
When you're testing a fresh ISO from https://acreetionos.org/flash.html, boot with the debug kernel parameter once. It drops you into an emergency shell before Calamares starts, letting you verify Xlibre driver detection (lspci -k | grep -A3 VGA) and network connectivity without committing to the install. Saves a reboot cycle if something's off.
