Daily AcreetionOS Update -- October 10, 2026

October 10, 2026

AcreetionOS CI Welcomes New Contributors

The CI pipeline for AcreetionOS just got a major upgrade, welcoming first-time contributors with friendly welcome messages and automated ShellCheck linting. These changes make onboarding smoother and help catch issues early. The team also updated the AcreetionOS-Xlibre repositories with these improvements.

Development The team added personalized welcome messages to the AcreetionOS-Xlibre repositories, making it easier for newcomers to find their place. ShellCheck linting is now enforced for all shell scripts across both the server and GNOME variants, catching common mistakes before they become bugs. These small but meaningful changes lower the barrier to entry for new developers joining the project.

Community Meanwhile, outside the codebase, Python 3.15 hit the ground running with its stable release, bringing performance improvements and security fixes to the ecosystem. On the infrastructure side, Let's Encrypt announced a shift to 64-day certificate lifetimes starting in 2027, which could benefit many open-source projects relying on automated TLS management. Both developments highlight the broader tech landscape AcreetionOS contributes to daily.

Tip of the day Start by exploring the AcreetionOS documentation at https://acreetionos.org/docs.html to understand the installation process, then try cloning the repository and running the CI tests locally to see how the new linting tools work in practice.
