Daily AcreetionOS Update -- October 02, 2026
geocode-glib conflict resolved in acreetionos + acreetionos-xlibre
The geocode-glib update conflict has been fully resolved across all AcreetionOS installations, including the xlibre spin.
Development: Darren (@cobra3282000) and Natalie (@spivanatalie64) merged the 'repair' branch, cleaning up the geocode-glib package version clash that was breaking updates on both acreetionos and acreetionos-xlibre. The fix harmonizes the GLib dependency tracking, so users now see a single, consistent geocode-glib package after a refresh. You can see the exact changes in the changelog at https://acreetionos.org/changelog.html.
Community: The wider Linux world saw Rust 1.99.0 drop, bringing safer memory handling and improved SIMD support for anyone who experiments with Rust‑based tools in AcreetionOS. Meanwhile the Linux Test Project suite stabilized in September 2026, giving us more confidence in the kernel patches we backport. Security updates from AlmaLinux also landed, covering packages like kernel, openssh and thunderbird, and our Discord channel (#security) has been busy with user reports. For detailed migration notes check the wiki at https://acreetionos.org/wiki.html.
Tip of the day: If you run into a stray geocode-glib version after the fix, try running 'pacman -Syu geocode-glib' to force a clean reinstall. Also remember to back up any custom configuration files in /etc/geocode before the update. For first‑time installers, the flash utility at https://acreetionos.org/flash.html now ships with an embedded checksum verifier, so you can confirm the ISO integrity before writing to USB.
