About AcreetionOS
Our Team & Philosophy
AcreetionOS is a father-and-daughter project, built by a two-person team. Our philosophy is simple: we practice discernment. We carefully choose what goes into each component rather than accepting things uncritically, because software quality is a matter of curation — not of who's involved.
That discernment translates directly into how we build: we curate, test, and select every package in AcreetionOS instead of bundling everything blindly. We value independence, personal responsibility, and user freedom — principles that show up as repository sovereignty, minimal bloat, and a system that respects its users. Our focus is on building great software for everyone, regardless of background.
We believe everyone deserves an operating system that works for them, and that a diverse team builds better software. Our focus is 100% on the work: building an approachable, private, and reliable Arch-based distribution — and making the world a better place through open source.
Our Values
Repository Sovereignty
We maintain full control over our package repositories, ensuring that every component is curated, tested, and verified before reaching users. No blind bundling, no untrusted sources.
User Freedom
AcreetionOS respects your choices. We believe in an operating system that empowers rather than restricts — giving you full control over your computing experience without unnecessary limitations.
Privacy First
Your data belongs to you. AcreetionOS is designed with privacy as a core principle, minimizing telemetry and respecting your digital sovereignty.
Accessibility
Arch Linux power should not require a PhD in Linux. We bridge the gap between professional-grade performance and everyday usability, making Arch accessible to everyone.
Minimal Bloat
We carefully select each component. Every package in AcreetionOS serves a purpose — nothing is included by default that doesn't add genuine value to the user experience.
Community Over Corporation
AcreetionOS is a volunteer-run, independent project. We answer to our users, not shareholders. Our roadmap is shaped by community needs, not corporate interests.
Governance Philosophy
AcreetionOS is governed by a lightweight, transparent model designed to keep the project focused and effective:
- Benevolent Dictatorship — Co-Lead Developers Darren Clift and Natalie Cole-Clift Spiva have final say on project direction, ensuring consistency and rapid decision-making.
- Open Contribution — Anyone can contribute code, documentation, or community support. The best ideas win, regardless of who submits them.
- Transparent Roadmap — Project priorities, release plans, and major decisions are published openly for community review.
- Minimal Process — We avoid bureaucracy. When a decision needs to be made, we make it and move on.

Our Mission
AcreetionOS is an approachable and user-friendly distribution based on the powerful Arch Linux core. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the power and flexibility of Arch and the simplicity that everyday computer users expect. We aim to make the Arch ecosystem accessible to a wider audience — from students and developers to casual desktop users — by providing a stable, pre-configured, and beautiful desktop experience right out of the box.
This project is made possible by the incredible work of the Arch Linux developers and the broader open-source community. We see ourselves as curators, taking an already fantastic base and adding a layer of convenience, rigorous testing, and thoughtful design to create a cohesive and welcoming operating system for everyone.
